About the project
The main objective of the project is to prove that a school can and ought to be the platform for creating conducive conditions to students’ and teachers’ development, encouraging mobility, teaching independence of thinking and acting as well as cooperating with others. That is to say, the cooperation which inspires various activities, enables participants to have contact with others, to share experiences, and simultaneously allows for instant verification of recent working methods and remaining open to new ideas (in our case, we mean Polish-Norwegian relations).
The title of our project is a paraphrase of a Latin sentence: ‘ History – the teacher of life’. The school as ‘the teacher of life’ might be identified with each teacher responsible for the manner of passing the knowledge on to students and teachers, as well as for effects of their work that contribute to maintaining an adequate standard of education, which takes into account not only students’ needs but also changing conditions. By implementing the ideas above, we would like to accomplish a few mini projects. Two of them will be aimed at teachers, the others are indented to target both students and teachers. The work on these projects will be done within the framework of school classes as well as during working visits in Poland and Norway. The main aim of our activities will be to broaden knowledge of various domains such as culture, art, ecology, education and to develop essential skills and qualities. We want our school to teach sensitivity, to improve the sense of esthetics, to build up the sense of identity ( mini-project: ‘The origin – our and your myths’) to teach how to look after the environment ( mini-project: ‘ We are learning how to think globally – water as a common treasure’). In order to achieve theses aims, teachers should constantly enrich their knowledge, skills, methods and competences ( mini project:’ High standard of education – opportunity for young people’),they ought to care for the quality of education by conducting a proper self-evaluation ( mini project ‘How good is our school?’ ) The mini projects above are a means of accomplishing a primary aim of our project, as a result of this, understanding that learning possesses a great value. In other words, we are studying ‘not for school, but for life’ as the Latin sentence reads. The school is ‘the teacher of life’. |
